TxDOT Crews on Standby for Winter Weather
Highway crews are on alert to respond if necessary, especially in the counties to the south and west of the Metroplex.
We are watching a major winter storm in West Texas. Heavy snow is likely from San Angelo, Midland and Odessa west through the mountains to El Paso.
Here in the Metroplex the air remains very dry, so any precipitation here will be very light. Expect a mixture of sprinkles, snowflakes, snow grains and perhaps a few sleet pellets, but with no accumulation locally.
Most of the precipitation will evaporate before reaching the ground across the Metroplex -- but there could be a dusting to perhaps 1/2 inch of snow to the southwest (around Stephenville, Comanche, Hamilton, Brownwood), and a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for that area.
Any wintry weather that develops in North Texas will end Friday morning. The weekend will be clearing and dry.
